Treatments
So what can be done to treat this virus? At the moment there are two main treatments. ZMapp and VSV-EBOV. Before you learn about these treatments you need to know the difference between a vaccine and a therapeutic drug. A vaccine is given to someone who has not yet gotten to virus to prompt the body in being ready for future infection. Whereas, a therapeutic drug is given to those already infected to try and eliminate the virus.
Z-mapp The first treatment is called Z-mapp. it is a Canadian experimental drug which is made of a cocktail of 3 antibodies made in tobacco plants. Scientists use a process of infecting the tobacco plants with a natural tobacco virus fused with desired antibody genes. In result the tobacco plant makes antibodies that we need inside the plant to fight off the new artificial virus. We then harvest those antibodies to make the drug. This drug has been tested on three people so far, and two out of the three people survived.

VSV-EBOV
The second treatment is VSV-EBOV this is a Canadian experimental vaccine but it has never actually been tested on humans. Yet it has been tested on animals and it has shown to be promising. Since it hasn't been tested on humans yet, not much about the drug has been released to the public.
Blood Transfusion
Another treatment which is less popular, but very much around, is a blood transfusion with a survivor of the virus. This could be very effective as the blood may have antibodies that could help eliminate the virus but there are many risks with blood transfusion such as acquiring different diseases through the blood, making the treatment less desirable.
